Applied Health Sciences and Exercise and Sport Science Minor
The Department of Applied Health Sciences in the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, in collaboration with the Division of Kinesiology, Health and Sport Studies in the College of Education, offer a combined minor including coursework from the in the Bachelor of Science in Applied Health Sciences and the Exercise and Sport Science programs that would create bi-directional synergies for students in both programs. This partnership will increase and enhance student enrollments in both undergraduate programs and facilitate a more streamlined and successful matriculation of students in the Division of Applied Health Sciences and Division of Kinesiology, Health and Sport Studies graduate professional programs. The programs together would actively seek to facilitate an enhanced high demand professional pathway for students pursuing healthcare, exercise, health, and wellness careers. The Minor in Applied Health Sciences and Exercise and Sport Science would require a minimum of 18 credits. All courses offered by the Bachelor of Applied Health Sciences must be completed in accordance with the academic regulations of the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. All courses offered by the Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science must be completed in accordance with the academic regulations of the College of Education. All courses must also be completed in accordance with the academic regulations of the University.
The Minor in Applied Health Sciences and Exercise and Sport Science requires a minimum of 18 credits, consisting of one required and two elective courses (9 credits) taught in the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (EACPHS) Bachelor of Science in Applied Health Sciences program, as well as one required and two elective courses (9 credits minimum) taught in the College of Education (COE) Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science program. The EACPHS and the Division of Kinesiology, Health and Sport Studies in the COE will ensure that majors in the Bachelor of Science in Applied Health Sciences and Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science have access to the required program courses. Therefore, the colleges will prioritize individual student course enrollment to students enrolled within these majors to ensure they are able to make efficient progress toward degree completion.
An undergraduate Minor in Applied Health Science and Exercise and Sport Science consists of six, 3-credit classes with two sets of requirements:
(1) One required and two elective courses in the B.S. in Applied Health Sciences taught by faculty in College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
(2) One required and two elective courses in the B.S. in Exercise and Sport Science taught by faculty in the Division of Kinesiology, Health and Sport Studies.
